Alaska natives are comprised of 229 villages, speaking 20 languages, in 5 geographical regions governed by 13 councils. Alaska natives belong to eleven culture groups. Eskimo is the term used when speaking of Inupiaq and Yupik people collectively, or to mean all Inuit and Yupik people of the world. Not all alaska natives are eskimos.
